Good news is emerging from Vancouver General hospital where the Bayside Shark's club captain David McBride remains for treatment of a spinal injury during last weeks match with James Bay. According to coach Paul Horne McBride is showing limited movement in his shoulders and feeling in his hands. Coupled with the comments from his neurosurgeon who requested that David walk into his office for a June appointment, the outlook is positive for the hard nosed forward.

In a display of his team's affection, the Bayside squad will not wear his #6 jersey until he next attends a Sharks match. Their flanker will instead wear number 16.

More details have also come out about how the injury occurred. McBride was tackling James Bay's fly-half Jared Barker who was attempting a switch with hooker Pat Dunkley. The impact of McBride's tackle drove Barker back and into the on-coming Dunkley at which point McBride fell helplessly to the ground unable to reduce the impact with his arms. McBride's head also hit Dunkley's hand hard enough to cause a possible fracture.
